About Falmouth
Falmouth was originaly two hamlets 'Peny-Cum-Quick' and 'Smethwick' which were merged to become Falmouth in 1661. Falmouth being derived from the fact that Falmouth stands at the mouth of the River Fal Estuary. So, wherever your Falmouth is located in the world - be it Falmouth Jamaica, Falmouth, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, or Virginia in the USA or Falmouth Antigua in the West Indies its roots lie here in Falmouth Cornwall.
Today Falmouth is a thriving Town and has the 3rd largest natural deep-water harbour in the world with the Fal Estuary offering 12 miles of navigable water with one of its many tributaries reaching the cathedral city of Truro.
